ipLaser was founded by Ivan Cooper and Peter Olle, with both having been involved in profile cutting jobshops for over thirty years. Ivan, Managing Director of ipLaser, has previously owned and operated several contract cutting jobshops throughout Australia. Peter has worked alongside Ivan for several years as the Technical Director.
ipLaser commenced in 2007 following the sale of the business of the Applied Laser Technology Group, a business owned by Ivan which commenced in 1988 and developed from one job shop in Victoria and grew to the largest national network of laser job shops in Australia.
The Applied Laser Technology Group demanded a business management solution to ensure effective control, efficiency and accuracy of the quoting, order processing and reporting aspects of the business. To that end, Ivan and Peter developed an intranet software solution called “Poly” – a name to reflect the principal developer, Peter Olle.
The Applied Laser Group was sold, however the ownership of the intellectual property rights to the Poly software remained with Ivan and it continues licensed and operative in that business today. The Poly software is the foundation of the ipLaser cloud-based platform which is designed to meet the requirements of busy, modern laser jobshops. It enables accurate, consistent and timely quotations for complex parts requiring multiple processes.
